POSITION: Information Systems Technician

The Information Systems Technician is a critical support position for Mountain Park Lodges. This key role in the IT Department functions as the first point of contact, support, and maintenance for all of our hardware, and software programs within the company. You are the ‘go to’ contact for technical issues, the trainer for various software applications, and the overseer of company network policies. We will rely heavily on your technical knowledge and capabilities! The ideal candidate possesses a strong work and business ethic, is computer savvy and has top-notch problem-solving skills. • Install, maintain, and track all hardware and software on computer workstations
• Administer and monitor data backup jobs, while insuring complete security of all tape or external media.
• Manage all imaging software, and ensure copies of all primary systems are maintained
• Train MPL team members in various software applications and networked computer usage as directed by the IT Manager.
• Offer system support to all team members with computer problems, i.e. broken hardware, mis-configured software, user error, etc.
• Assist the IT Manager with management of network security access rights and privileges for all team members.
• Oversee and manage compliancy with company network access policies as defined in the company’s “Network Policy Agreement”
• Perform all job duties in a confidential, professional and ethical manner
• Ensure that all system programs, data, passwords and other information are always maintained securely .
• Maintain and update all software, including operating systems and antivirus software
• Maintain telephone systems – cellular and land lines
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of rooftop antennas
• Assist with installing of various types of cabling and network infrastructure
• Assist with emergency after-hours network system failures
• Be available on a scheduled weekly basis to provide after-hours system support for all users and computer systems provided by the company
• Perform the duties of the IT Manager in his absence, under the direction of the CFO
• Complete ongoing educational development as directed by the IT Manager
• Other related duties as assigned


• Minimum grade 12 education
• Previous IT system, database management, or network experience strongly preferred
• Advanced knowledge of computers systems and software is required
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential
• Must have excellent attention to detail
• Must be bondable
• Must be able to work in a confidential environment
• Must be able to accept direction and work with minimal supervision
• Must possess the desire to work as a part of a team and work with others to accomplish a common goal
• A+ & MCTS certifications preferred, or be willing to obtain
• Must hold a valid Alberta Driver’s License
