Select is in search of a General Manager to run a local 2-star motel in Lethbridge, AB. The individual would be responsible for both managing employees and for planning, marketing, coordinating, and administering hotel services. We are looking for someone who has the drive to see the business succeed, an eagerness to foster culture among employees, and a keen eye for innovative marketing methods. Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

* Recruiting, training, scheduling, and coaching/developing employees, which includes the Front Desk and Housekeeping
* Promoting and marketing the business by use of social media, hosting events, and creating campaigns
* Researching the different markets and finding ways to appeal to them
* Monitoring efficiency/effectiveness of hotel operations; implementing means of improvement
* Managing budgets, maintaining financial and statistical records, and setting & achieving sales targets
* Planning maintenance work, renovations, furnishings, and ordering supplies
* Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations and licensing laws
* Following up with guest complaints or comments
* Penning RFP’s or letters to clients/staff/contractors; must have

Required Qualifications:

* 5+ years of experience in motel or hotel management
* Background in hospitality; a genuine desire to help and please others
* Commitment to the hotel, as the work can be demanding and unpredictable
* Must be social media savvy
* Strong understanding of rates and incentives
* Skilled in conflict resolution
* Excellent written and oral communication
* A professional manner and a calm, rational approach to hectic situations

Bonus Points For:

* Post-secondary education in business/management
* Interest/background in travel or tourism
* Fluent in more than one language

Compensation & Hours:

* Compensation is expected to be around $50K - $75K
* Bonuses are readily available to those who really blaze a trail
