Brief Description:

Responsibilities will include generating leads and soliciting new accounts, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with key clients in order to produce group and conference business for the Prestige Prince Rupert Convention Centre, located in Chances Prince Rupert. The successful candidate will be required meet or exceed personal and departmental goals through strategic planning, initiation and implementation of proven sales & promotional techniques, and ensuring client loyalty by delivering service excellence in all aspects.

We are looking to develop our Management team, and therefore are willing to amend the job description slightly to work with the strengths of the right candidate with the right attitude.

Specific Duties:
Meeting & Convention Sales:
• Sell and organize convention bookings from site tours, date of booking to departure, including meeting requirements, guest room requirements, guest rooming lists, food & beverage requirements and audio visual
• Efficiently reserve and utilize function space to maximize revenues and ensure the best customer experience
• Work closely with hotel and casino staff to follow up on guest requests and book additional usage of corporate services
• Manage and execute the terms of each contract for the group/convention/program as agreed upon in the client contract
• Follow departmental policies and procedures
• Attend agreed upon trade shows and community events to increase patronage
• Cold Call for various events, tradeshows, expos, etc.
• Follow up with each event hosted at the Prestige Prince Rupert Convention Centre. If necessary listen, apologize with empathy, find a solution and follow through when resolving guest problems.
• Other duties as assigned

Administration
• Tailor each event proposal to address the priorities identified by the customer.
• Create floor plans for each event with client approval to ensure banquets and clients are in agreement prior to set up
• Communicate all details of each event to all departments in a professional, thorough and timely manner, using communication tools and weekly Banquet Event Order (BEO) meetings to review event contracts and ensure last minute changes are communicated with appropriate departments
• Ensure all client contact is tracked in catering software
• Report to Manager weekly of any new signed contracts. Forecasting revenue against targets
• Ensure all contracts are filled out completely, signed and non-refundable deposits taken

Leadership
• Sets a positive example for guest relations
• Take a hands approach to leadership. Be willing to help out in all areas of event sales, set-up, execution and clean-up as required to ensure service levels and profitability
• Follow up with guests to ensure exceptional service and product quality is maintained

Human Resources
• Ensure staffing requirements for set-up, execution/supervision and clean-up are communicated at BEO meetings
• Follow UP with manager regarding any details around service/performance of other staff within the convention centre. Work to present solutions to problems as they arise
• Coach convention staff positively on how to be effective and work as a team to exceed customer expectations

Job Requirements:
• Must be 19+
• The ability to successfully complete a criminal record and credit check through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB)
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in business, marketing or related major preferred
• 2-5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Communication: Strong listening and interpersonal skills. Must possess good verbal, written and visual communication skills.

• Ability to stand and walk for all periods of time on a consistent basis
