YWCA Toronto is an association of diverse and caring women dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through dynamic leadership, advocacy and a range of unique and essential services that promote personal growth and economic independence.
Tap into a 80-year tradition of learning, adventure and fun. For girls 6-15 years of age, the YWCAs Camp Tapawingo can turn a summer experience into a summer of unique memories. The relaxed atmosphere of an all girls setting creates the perfect environment for embarking on a girls journey to self-discovery, confidence and achievement.
YWCAs Camp Tapawingo is currently recruiting applicants, ages 17 years old or older, for various positions. All staff at camp live at the camp on Georgian Bay near Parry Sound and work directly with children in the following areas: swimming, canoeing, arts & crafts, climbing, dance & drama, sailing, nature activities, landsports, tripping and kayaking. All specialty positions will start on June 18th and all counsellor positions start on June 24th. All positions end on August 28th except for the Womens Weekend Staff and Family Camp Staff positions which end on dates as specified below. Compensation depends on the position and experience of the applicant.
For all camp positions, candidates are expected to demonstrate the following Core Competencies: ? Understand and support the mission and beliefs of YWCA Toronto ? Demonstrate respect, consideration and acceptance of the opinions of others while expressing her own expertise and effectively utilizing relevant resources and specialists ? Head Cook (1 position) The successful candidate is responsible for the effective operation of the kitchen, supervision of the kitchen staff and cooking all meals.
The candidate should have: - Grade 12 education or equivalent - Completion of Food Handler Certificate - 1-3 years experience working in a large kitchen - Some experience in a supervisory capacity - Experience in cooking large quantities of food - Ability to work collaboratively - Abiltiy to maintain a positive appraoch - Strong communiction and interpersonal skills
